PENTAX K-1 II Sample Gallery published on!

“The Pentax K-1 was one of the most anticipated DSLRs in recent memory – with the K-1 II, Pentax hopes to take image quality and ISO performance to the next level. We’re presently finishing up our full review of the camera, but wanted to share some sample images, shot in and around Seattle, WA, prior to publishing.”

Check it out at

There are Pixel Shift Resolution (PSR) samples (1. Tripod-mounted + Motion Correction: ON, 2. Hand-held Dynamic PSR). But… If you look/check with their “Loupe” tool on their gallery page, you will see the strange pixelation and detail loss on exported samples. (Detail loss especially on pub shot.)

‘Some people says that “Official sources/pages are much better than the others”… Well, we tried to show how such “official” sources can do mistakes… did the same mistake on their PENTAX K-1 II review but we couldn’t do/show a correction ourselves because they have shared RAW files on their review without EXIF info. (Basically, softwares don’t recognize the camera settings.)’

So please check our sample exports below at “Bonus Material” section.

  3. Adobe Photoshop CC version 19.1.2 – 100% cropped files

RAW files processed without any extra adjustment; directly exported. Only “Motion Correction specified tool” selected for the first sample on PENTAX Digital Camera Utility 5. Hand-held Dynamic Pixel Shift Resolution sample directly exported with “Camera settings” option.

smc PENTAX-FA 43mm F1.9 Limited (FF) review

Really well-written review about first gem of “The Holy Trinity”: smc PENTAX-FA 43mm F1.9 Limited (updated for K-1) by Bernard Déry published on PENTAXForums!

“The three FA Limited lenses from Pentax have a reputation bordering on cult status. With good reason: these small primes, superbly assembled and delivering excellent optical performances, are a rarity in the modern market.

With the release of the K-1 full frame camera, it is time to revisit our reviews of these legendary lenses and see how they perform with a high-resolution large sensor.

After reviewing the widely popular FA 31mm F1.8 and 77mm F1.8, we now look at the smallest and lightest of the FA Limited, the 43mm F1.9. Like its siblings, the 43mm is made entirely of metal, offers a fast aperture in a small, elegant body. Not quite as renowned as the FA 31mm and 77mm, the 43mm is still among the most popular lenses in our database.

The FA 43mm was the first Limited ever created, 20 years ago this year. How does it compare with more recent lenses?”
