RICOH IMAGING COMPANY, LTD. is excited to announce a complete new line-up of PENTAX Sport Optics product. For over 75 years PENTAX binoculars have pushed optical technology to the edge to ensure that world travelers, wildlife adventurers, devoted birders, and stargazers never miss a moment.
With this announcement, Ricoh Imaging reveals 34 new high quality PENTAX viewing options, each with new features, technology and enhanced performance. To create a clearer vision of the product line-up Ricoh Imaging has divided these PENTAX binoculars in to four defined categories:
Z series – Offering premium level quality and clarity, at a price that’s within reach. Every Z-series model is built for critical observation. They are designed to delight the most demanding users and inspire the most dedicated enthusiasts.
S series – Consisting of roof and porro prism models, the large objective lenses incorporated in the design allow for contrast-rich, bright viewing under all light conditions.
A series – Offering impeccable viewing quality in a compact, portable and durable design, viewers can enjoy carrying convenience without compromising performance.
U-series – These compact porro-prism models feature a durable dual-axis, single body design and aspherical lens elements give you edge-to-edge sharpness. They are a perfect companion from the field to the theater.
Each binocular in the line-up includes advances in optical precision. New technologies include:
Fully-multi-coated optics
Lens multi-coatings that serve the essential purpose of increasing light transmission through a lens and prevent flare and ghosting from interfering with your view. PENTAX applies multiple layers of coatings to every surface of every element and prism in the full line-up of Sport Optics. These fully- multi-coated optics assure the maximum light transmission resulting in a clear, crisp view of the world.
New Premium Level Lens Coatings
The complex optical design of roof prism binoculars provide durable, compact, yet lightweight design but require a higher level of optical perfection. A phase coating is necessary on the prisms of roof prism binoculars to maximize image viewing quality. PENTAX binoculars take this quality to the next level by applying a new optimized film-deposition technology on lens and prism surfaces resulting in bright images with accurate color rendition.
Protective Lens Coatings
All optical surfaces are delicate and must be handled with care to prevent scratching. To add to the durability of the Z- and S-series Water Proof binoculars*, PENTAX has added a protective coating that helps deflect water, oil, dust and dirt. This allows PENTAX binoculars to withstand the harshest viewing conditions.
*Limited to ZD-ED, ZD-WP and SP-WP models.
Other Optical Technology
- BaK4 prisms – Due to its outstanding refractive index, the BaK4 glass prism found in all PENTAX Sport Optics is highly acclaimed for its perfectly round exit pupil and clear, unvignetted image
- PENTAX Waterproofing – PENTAX waterproof products are fully sealed and purged with laboratory grade nitrogen to provide a fog proof view in the harshest weather conditions. With a JIS Class 6 rating, PENTAX waterproof binoculars can even be submerged in up to 3 feet of water.
- Long Eye relief – The long eye relief offered in all PENTAX Sport Optics allows the viewer to see the entire field of view clearly and effortlessly. This is especially beneficial to eyeglass wearers, and allows viewing for extended periods of time without added eye strain.
- Inner Focus Optics Design – this sophisticated optical design is ideal for waterproof models that require a fully airtight body construction. It also contributes to a considerable reduction in size and weight and improves overall balance and durability.
